Exams

Exams fever this week. So no worthy posts are made. I’ve been spending sometime with my classmates ‘teaching’ them c++. I’m not even sure if i’ve done a good job. I will find out soon. We’ve got midterms later in the morning 8am. Time to call it a day.

After CNY Hungover

Yes… its all over. The celebs, which frankly for me wasn’t that much of a celebration. I enjoyed the week’s holiday though, just being a fat, lazy arse around the house. Doing absolutely nothing unless necessary. Back in college, life is beginning to be much more hectic. Exams in less than a weeks time, I’m far from being prepared along with the irony that my classmates are asking for help on certain subjects that even I myself am having problem with.

I’d recently purchased a used notebook from a friend of mine, not out of necessity I’m afraid, but for convenience sake really. ” Why not buy a brand new notebook? Its not very expensive nowadays. “, Many asked me. Primarily I don’t need one as I’ve got my desktop already which at this current phase is adequate until the tree shrew in my head starts jumping around causing havoc asking for the “Latest & Greatest in Computer Technology!!!”. I’d like something for (technically) menial tasks such as assignments, presentations which really don’t require much computing power at all. And since at times I have to bring my programme work along with me back home or some far flung place, I’d like to have a computer which has not been molested by anyone. A computer which has been properly configured to look, feel and operate according to my liking, personalisation if you’d like. Yes, I have this knack of not liking others messing around with my property especially my computer. So what did I purchase?

A 3yrs ++ old Asus L2400D - BD$400 (RM820)

-AMD Athlon XP Mobile 1600+
-256MB SDRAM
-30GB Hard Drive (Which is dead)
-Lithium Ion Battery (Surprisingly still holds 3 hours of charge)
-Licensed Copy of Win XP Home Edition
-AC Adapter
-Targus Carry Bag

The laptop was in full running condition other than the dead hard drive, which fortunately is not rather expensive to replace. I’d purchase a Western Digital 5400rpm 40GB hard drive for RM290. So all in all RM1100 for my latest investment. Not too shabby really, knowing that it still is capable of performing as well as the newer notebooks and for the fact that its running an AMD processor which as should be known by now I prefer AMD’s to Intels as much anyone prefer a lapdance from Angelina Jolie rather than their grandmothers, a battery that still operates properly and is from a reputable brand.

You know what irks me? People which do not deserve certain things that gets everything without barely any effort at all. Such is the unfairness in the reality that we live in. A person that works till their bones on their fingers, and some bloke comes along waving their smile and gets all the glory. Thus ends the compulsory Irk of the Day part of todays blog entry.
